| Emily grew up in Coral Springs, Florida. She attended Penn State University where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. She subsequently lived in NYC and Boston. Emily has toured Asia performing in musical revues at Alumni Events for Penn State President Graham Spanier. She went on to become a Krooze Komic for Royal Caribbean-the only female member of an improvisational acting quartet on their eagle-class ships. This is where Emily gained her "stilt legs" and even stilt-walked onboard in a parade during a hurricane! Emily is also a Certified Stroller Strides instructor. Seth grew up in Darien, Connecticut. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in German from the University of New Hampshire, and then his Masters of Education at University of Pittsburgh. He starred as Barry and Tony in Tony & Tina’s Wedding for over a year, and performed with TheatreSports for six years. Seth honed his stilt-walking skills aboard Royal Caribbean as one of their Krooze Komics. He has taught theatre and communication at Point Park University and University of North Carolina Wilmington. He has lived in Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Boston. Seth and Emily completed two tours with the world-famous Cirque du Soleil of which they were a part of for almost two years. Seth and Emily are the founding members of Bona Fide Theatre Company (founded 2007). The philosophy behind BFTC is to produce shows while flexing around parenthood and life. Seth and Emily are a team of skilled actors whose strong improvisational talents and natural ability to create believable characters make them a perfect fit. They create comedy out of the everyday. Their characters are entertaining to all types of audiences because they adopt them from everyday life, then they adapt them to their immediate audiences and their suggestions. You never quite know what will happen next because they haven’t written it yet. All they need to finish the script is… you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ Seth and Emily make their home in Florida with their two daughters. |
| THE ENTERTAINER Each week, 3,500 guests boarded The Voyager of the Seas- the largest cruise ship in the world- for vacation. But for Emily Richmond '02 A&A, it was work. For seven months. Richmond and her band of "street performers" earned their paychecks on the Royal Promenade, an entire deck designed to replicate a street. She transformed into an off-beat maintenance worker (below), an old woman named Eleanor, and a Hollywood actress, among other characters. And she paraded down the Promenade, the length of two and a half football fields, each night- on four-foot stilts (she fell only once). Richmond spent only five hours per week in the U.S.and that time was gobbled up by errands. "It's hard to get the kind of deodorant you want in Mexico." she says. Sure, Richmond got some experience to take to her next gig, but she also scored a soon-to-be-husband. Richmond and fellow performer Seth Carpenter are planning an October wedding. -MG |
